On Monday, May 13th, The Akwesasne Mohawk Police hosted an 'open house' which was just one of several activities planned for National Police Week. National Police Week, in the United States and Canada coincide with each other, giving the policing agencies throughout Akwesasne an opportunity to participate in activities together.

During the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service Open House community members were given a guided tour of the building. As well, everyone was welcome to a free meal, before or after their tour of the building. Sitting down for a meal gave everyone a chance to get to know Akwesasne's finest, helping one another to remember that we are all a part of this community. The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service have hired a number of new recruits this year and their National Police Week activities presented them with a prefect opportunity meet and talk with community members.
