Indian Time - A Voice from the Eastern Door

AKWESASNE – Randall C. "Randy" Hillyard, 63, unexpectedly went back to the Spirit World on Monday morning, February 18, 2019 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Randy was born June 26, 1955 in Rochester, the son of Barbara Gadway Hillyard and the late Carl K. Hillyard. He lived and worked in Rochester for many years before moving to Akwesasne. Randy was a very kind and generous person and especially loving fishing, hunting, and all animals and birds, especially dogs, cats, and turtles.

Randy is survived by his mother, Barbara Gadway Hillyard of Akwesasne; his brother and sister-in-law, Timothy A. and Belinda Hillyard and their son, Carl A. Hillyard of Florida; his wife Sabra (Martinez) Hillyard; his sons, Benjamin Martinez and Cory and Cheryl Martinez, all of Rochester; and four grandchildren, Chandra, Alexis, Sequoia, and Brandon. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Edith and Phil Rybke of Akwesasne; Agnes Hillyard and Dorothy Leo of Rochester; and Gail Tuite of Maryland and many cousins and friends from Akwesasne and the Rochester Area.

Randy was predeceased by his father on March 30, 2010; his grandparents, Malcolm and Charlotte (Tarbell) Gadway of Akwesasne and Lester and Hazel Hillyard of Rochester; his uncle and aunts, Reginald and Cecilia Gadway, Frank, Harold, Chester, Arthur, and Donald Hillyard; Mildred Fuino, Betty Leo, Leona Lewis, and Shirley Hillyard.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to an Animal Rescue agency of their choice in his memory.
