The crowd got right into the scary story about a skeleton coming back to life.

On a cold and windy night community members gathered in the St. Regis Recreation to listen to legends and stories with Dave Fadden, a seasoned storyteller. The event began at 5:00pm on Saturday, February 16th. The storytelling event was part of the 2019 Akwesasne Winter Carnival and was sponsored by the Akwesasne Tourism Working Group. Originally, the storytelling was set to take place outside by a bonfire, but it was a little too cold and windy. The event was moved inside where community members gathered to hear some legends.

The first legend told was the legend of "How the Bear Clan Got Their Medicine" which is a lesson in itself. Once Dave finished telling the legend, he asked the younger crowd what they thought the story's lesson was.

The next story was decided by the crowd, with the majority wanting to hear a scary story. Dave went on to tell a story his grandpa told him, which spooked everyone out.

The last story of the evening was a funny story, leaving everyone with a good laugh.

The storytelling event drew in a good size crowd packing the room with parents and their children.
