ST. REGIS RECREATION CENTER – On a beautiful night, a bonfire was started, and everyone gathered with snowshoes strapped on their feet for a snowshoe walk along the St. Lawrence River. From handmade snowshoes to more modern shoes, everyone was welcomed to join this event that was being led by Iakwashatsete Youth Fitness, with head lamps and door prizes provided by SMART Akwesasne.

Snowshoers followed one of the leaders who wore red lights to indicate where to go. Across the field to the Pavilion, while not far, the walkers came with families and children to bond as they walked along. It's easy to say that despite the cold weather, walking in snowshoes actually works-up and warms-up the body. An activity recommended during the winter months.
