Massena Lady Raiders on five-game hot streak

The Massena Lady Raiders varsity basketball team have won their last five games in a row. Meanwhile, the Massena boys have had mixed results, which included a win over Potsdam.

Friday, Jan. 4, Massena 53, Ogdensburg 48 - After trailing 30-22 at the half, Massena turned around the game in the third quarter to take their fifth win in a row. Nova LeGrow scored 17 points, a game high. Aryssa Hopps scored eight points, Rhea Bautista and Layla Bingham six each, Hayleigh Armstrong and Alayna Taraska four each, Octavia Viskovich three, Shaylena Mandigo and Tori Jacobs two each and Tsiakoseriio David one point.

Thursday, Dec. 27, Massena 50, Adirondack 46 - Massena fell behind 16-15 after the opening stanza and outscored their opponents 14-9 in the second quarter and went on to win. Hopps notched a game-high 13 points. Armstrong and Viskovich each tallied seven points, Mandigo six, Bautista five, Taraska and Jacobs four each, LeGrow three and David a free throw.

Friday, Dec. 21, Massena 45, Saranac 43 - The Lady Raiders pulled ahead 29-15 at the half and withstood a late surge. David led Massena with 11 points, Armstrong and LeGrow each scored eight, Bautista and Morgan Eddy five each, Viskovich four and Taraska and Jacobs two each.

Tuesday, Dec. 18, Massena 44, Potsdam 31 - Massena played to a 16-12 halftime lead, went on to be outscored 16-9 in the third stanza and reversed their fortune to outscore Potsdam 19-3 in the closing frame. LeGrow nailed a game-high 14 points. Viskovich scored 10 points, Hopps five and Mandigo and David four each. Two points apiece came from Armstrong, Taraska, Bautista and Eddy.

Saturday, Dec. 15, Massena 60, Indian River 45 - LeGrow connected for a game-high 17 points, followed by Hopps with 12, Bautista with five, Eddy with four, Armstrong with three and Taraska and David with two each.

Thursday, Jan. 3 - Ogdensburg 67, Massena 63 - The teams were tied at the end of the first three quarters before OFA squeezed out a 17-13 lead in the final stanza. Tyler Bacon scored a game-high 24 points with eight rebounds. Alex Rusaw scored 12 points and pulled down five boards. Josh Sheets scored eight points with four assists. Chris McGregor and Ryan Herrick each scored six points. Tyler McDonald scored five and Ethan Barney two.

Monday, Dec. 17, Massena 76, Potsdam 57 - Bacon had a big game with 32 points. Rusaw scored 17 points with 10 caroms. Sheets scored eight points, McGregor seven, Spencer Beckstead four and Zach LaBarge, Barney, Adam Peets and Hayden Amo all scored two.

Saturday, Dec. 15, General Brown 58, Massena 33 - Bacon chipped in 14 points with 10 rebounds. Rusaw scored 11 points, McDonald and Amo three each and McGregor two.
