Getting homework done, meeting new friends, working on art projects, learning new computer skills, getting exercise or just hanging around, there is always something to do at the Positive Place for Kids and Teens.

The Club on Rooseveltown Road and their satellite site at the St. Regis Mohawk School are open Monday through Friday for after school sessions.

The students are given a snack, then they have their Power Hour when they can do their homework. For the ones who need an extra push in their school work, on-site tutoring is available.

Afterward they are divided up into groups according to grades and they do different activities, whether it be arts and crafts or computers.

Once a week they have Talking Circles where a representative from the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe comes in and they confidentially share what's on their minds about issues facing adolescents.

The Club also has a Teen Night. Sometimes the teens will go to the movies or they will sometimes order take-out food and hang out on Friday nights. During the week they have their own room in the Rooseveltown Road building to do their thing and that is off limits to the younger kids.

The club is very popular and filled to capacity almost every night. Because of this they are not accepting any new members and those who wish to join will have to get on the waiting list.

They are however accepting Mentors for the kids and anyone who would like to donate their experiences to the kids can call the ABGC at 518-358-9911 and ask for Annie Jacobs.

The Club has been in operation since 2001 and is growing every year thanks to the support of the community, and the students are having a real good time at the Positive Place for Kids and Teens.
