Ms. Cook offered her thanks, "I'm so grateful for the recognition, especially when it comes to the company I keep in receiving the award. Both Mel Back and Connie Thompson and some of their staff have been given awards in the past through the Northern Tier Providers Coalition. I truly am proud of our people in Akwesasne and our community as a whole. I appreciate the attention listeners give me when I'm promoting an event for ACDP, selling something for a local business or even on Tetewatha:ren when I learn things from my guests during the interviews I do for the show. I was blown away when Mel Back called me to let me know I was nominated and that I won. I can't thank them enough for showing me that what I do every day, does matter."

Northern Tier Providers Coalition is composed of chemical dependency programs (treatment and prevention) and community service directors of Essex, Clinton, Franklin, Hamilton, Lewis, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties and the Akwesasne Territory. North Country addictions professionals historically have few opportunities for training, research and development because of the expansive geographic challenges that rural communities face. To address these issues, NTCP was formed in 1990. Their mission is to advocate and work cooperatively to insure delivery of a comprehensive continuum of care within Northern New York including prevention, intervention and treatment.

Diane McDonald, General Manager of CKON Radio added, "CKON management and staff are proud of co-worker Reen Cook and her win for the Public Service award she recently received. Reen is the face of CKON radio and has always been diligent in her promotion of the Akwesasne Mohawk Community in which CKON radio serves. It is a pleasure to work her and she is an excellent a role model for all of her co-workers. This year, CKON is receiving recognition for their service to the community. In early fall, CKON won the Akwesasne Business of Excellence Award for Community Choice for promoting the Buy Local campaign. This recognition demonstrates that the Akwesasne community and its listeners are paying attention to all that CKON strives to give back to their community."
