The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is proud to have provided employment opportunities for 64 high school and college students this past summer, which was 100% funded through the Room Occupancy Fee. The following is the final in a series of summer student spotlights that shared information on the students and their internships, which placed them in areas specific to their chosen career path. Brandee Teiohsontathe King, Johnson O'Malley Program Recreation Worker
Brandee, 19-years old, is the daughter of Kimberley and Russ Jock. She loves being outdoors and being around people, so her position this past summer with the Johnson O'Malley's Recreation Program was an ideal fit for her. This coming year, she will be with Health Services at Iohahí:io. In the future, she sees herself working in the field of Home Support - assisting elders in our community. This summer was her second year as a student intern.
Jade Kanonshiretha Jackson, Early Childhood Development Program Summer Intern
Jade, 14-years old, is the daughter of Paul Jackson and Lacy McDonald. She will be a 10th grader at Salmon River Central School and loves art, babysitting, and volunteering in general. Her position this past summer with the Early Childhood Development Program contributed to her college fund and her career goal of becoming a biologist. She also saw her summer internship as a chance to learn responsibility and the satisfaction of making her own money.
Morgan Phelix, Johnson O'Malley Program Recreation Worker
Morgan, 17-years old, is the son of Mel Phelix and Fran Jacobs. This fall he will be a senior and enjoys running and being outdoors, especially being on the water. After he graduates from high school, he is set on attending college and getting a degree in engineering. He likes working with children and is glad to have obtained experience this past summer in that area, while also meeting more people.
