Frequent users of the Massena Mall's arena floor can switch ice skates with cleats and running shoes.

Last Wednesday, August 8, 2018 an official ribbon cutting was held at the latest local family entertainment center.

The ice was permanently removed, and artificial turf has been installed on the floor. Lacrosse and soccer players are now welcome to use the surface for games and practices.

On Wednesday's grand opening, the floor was cut in half and on one side soccer and badminton nets were set up. On the other side of the floor was a Laser Tag arena which proved to be very popular with the children and teenagers.

Adrenaline Zone Paintball, of Oneonta, New York, operated the laser tag session and the players were lined up along the box waiting to get in. Adrenaline Zone rents out the equipment for special occasions or participants can go to their facility in Oneonta. The players have inflatable barriers in which to duck and cover and shoot from.

The Arena and Mall were purchased two years ago and the new owners - the Shapiro Group of Montreal - were at the ribbon cutting and they announced future plans for the building.

They have future plans for a larger family entertainment complex which will include permanent Laser Tag, Mini-Putt, Movie Theatre and Bumper Cars.

For the Adults they plan to have a Sports Bar and Business Center.

The Business Center will be a part of the existing mall.

The Grand Opening also had free food and there was a Disc Jockey playing in the stands. Until the Laser Tag and Bumper Cars go in you can rent the new turf for your sports team at (315)-705-2164.
