Medicine Men defeat Onondaga for first win of 2018

Akwesasne's Bear's Den Mohawk Medicine Men played to their first win of 2018, downing the Onondaga Red Hawks on June 27 at Massena Arena.

The Mohawk squadron was silenced in the first period by three Red Hawks goals. They outscored Onondaga 6-4 in the third period and 3-1 in the second.

Kiernan Lafavre led the Medicine Men with a game-high four goals and one assist. Jack Mintz scored twice with three assists. Mick Miller scored twice with two assists. Cole Zeller netted one goal. John Larassett had one assist. Vinny Tucci covered the net in the winning effort.

For the Red Hawks, Dylan Lyons and Jaden Stout had two goals and two assists apiece. Rioux Johnson had one goal and one assist. Gavin Maclochlan and Darian Sharrow both netted a singlton. Calen Hill had one assist.

In other recent Medicine Men action, they played the Seneca War Chiefs on June 30. Aidan Conlon, a newly acquired player from the Toronto Beaches, scored three goals in his Medicine Men debut. For Seneca, Cody Pielec led the way with five goals. Gutch Salinas netted three. The Mohawk squadron also lost 11-2 on June 16, which was also against Seneca. And they dropped a close 9-8 game to Tyendinaga on June 14.
