Salmon River, Massena baseball players recognized for on- and off-field accomplishments
Massena and Salmon River baseball players were recently honored for athletic and academic accomplishments.
Massena’s Garrett Engstrom was named to the All-Northern Athletic Conference Central Division first team. Salmon River’s Cameron Cartier, along with Merrick Taraska and Robbie Southwick from Massena were named to the second team.
Other first team honorees include Evan Keegan and Nate Welch (Malone), Ethan Baldwin and Jared Barr (Ogdensburg), James Robinson and David Lucht (Potsdam), Jack Finnerty (Canton) and Conor Fenlong (Gouverneur).
Others honored on the second team include
Second Team: Jake Vansteenburg and Matt Marlow (Malone), Keller McGowan and Syl Foisy (Potsdam) and Jackson Troiano and Justyn McCormick (Ogdensburg).
Tim Cook from Salmon River and Nevin LaShomb from Massena were named to the Outstanding Sportsmanship Team. Other honorees include Jerod Burchell (Canton), Zach Woods (Potsdam), Hayden Ives (Ogdensburg), Kyle Wood (Malone) and Ty Reed (Gouverneur).
The Academic All-NAC team includes Salmon River’s Casey Cartier, Tim Cook, Ian French, Hunter Ghostlaw and Matt Harvey. Massena players receiving the honor include Massena’s Nevin LaShomb, Josh Sheets, Robert Southwick and Merrick Taraska.
Other players named to the academic team include Malone’s Evan Keegan, Matt Marlow, Daulton Scharf, Dawson Scharf, Jake Vansteenburg and Kyle Wood; Canton’s John Bailey, Austin Beaulieu and Brandon Lorenc; Gouverneur’s Mitchell Longstreth and Logan Way; Ogdensburg’s Ethan Baldwin, Jared Barr, Alex Barrett, Christopher Garcia, Connor Griffith, Hayden Ives, Nathan Jenkins, Justyn McCormick, Jacob Sharpe and Jackson Troiano; Potsdam’s Syl Foisy, Donald Johnson, Conner LaBar, James Robinson and Zach Woods.
Tim Lamay of Franklin Academy was named Coach of the Year.
