AKWESASNE – Leo A. Bush, Sr., 78, of 75 Johnson Road, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Cornwall Community Hospital.

Leo was born on May 26, 1939 in Kanatakon, son of the late Louis and Louise Terrance Bush. He attended Kanatakon schools, and on May 11, 1974 he married Mercedes "Marty" Smoke at the St. Regis Catholic Church, with Father Francis Arsenault officiating.

Leo was a proud Ironworker with Local #401, Philadelphia. He was a known jokester who enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino, and supporting many local sports teams. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, but most of all he cherished his time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife Marty, Leo is survived by his children, Leo Bush, Jr. of Akwesasne; Ann Bush and Kirby Watson, Jr. of Akwesasne; and Christopher and Adrienne Sawatis of Akwesasne; three grandchildren, Raiden, Theresa, and Kirby; three sisters, Nancy Davis of Akwesasne; Dorothy Costello and Theresa Skidders of Akwesasne; and his brother, Herbert and Catherine Bush of Akwesasne.

Leo was predeceased by his parents Louis and Louise; and two sisters, Margaret LaFrance and Evelyn E. Bush.

Friends called at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Saturday. There will be no funeral service.
