The Female Figure in Ceremonial Dress Exhibit to Open May 11

The Native North American Travelling College recently hosted a series of figure drawing sessions titled "The Female Figure in Ceremonial Dress."

About a dozen artists came out to four classes to draw a model dressed in traditional regalia. Kariwaiens Perkins sat for the artists.

Artists used a variety of mediums like digital, paint, pastels and chalk.

The classes were organized by Victoria Ransom and Amanda Tarbell

Victoria said, "All artists from Akwesasne and the surrounding area were invited to attend the sessions to improve on their drawing skills. After all their hard work and vast improvements, the artists were asked to hand in their progress work and final art works to the NNATC for their upcoming exhibit."

The opening for the exhibit is Friday, May 11th from 6:00-8:00pm at NNATC.

"All are invited to see the works which will be on display until August 10, 2018," added Victoria. "The NNATC would also like to thank Kariwaiens Perkins for her time and patience as the model for the figure drawings sessions.
