The First Ever 'Me and My Gal' Dance

One young man showing the ladies how to do the "Gangnam Style" dance.

On April 15th, the first ever "Me and My Gal Dance" took place at the Saint Regis Mohawk School. The dance followed shortly after the annual "Me and My Guy Dance", held at noon. This year is the first time that the Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment organized a "Me and My Gal Dance", so that the young men and the female role models are not left out. It had a great turnout for being the first of many.

The young men got to enjoy a slow dance with their gals.

The young men were accompanied by their favorite gal, whether it be their mom, step mom, Tota, auntie or any other women in their life they love. The dance was similar to the "Me and My Guy Dance", as there was hula-hoop, limbo and twist contests. The event was free for everyone to attend and enjoy dancing that day away with their favorite gal.

The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment did another excellent job, including the young men of the community, giving them a chance to spend some quality time with their favorite gals.
