AKWESASNE – Jamie Clearwater Cole, 45, Snipe Clan, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Jamie left behind his wife of 31 years, Joni Marie, his son Coyodie Tehothariio, and his daughter Mesa Kwasennonkie, his parents Jefferey and Dale Cole, and his brother Elijah; all of Akwesasne. He was predeceased by a brother, Cody Creedence Cole and by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and May Cole. Family and friends called at the family's home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 until the time of services on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at the family home. A dinner will be held later at the American Legion Post #1479 Hogansburg, NY.

Jamie was a firefighter, played lacrosse for the Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Team and even had the opportunity to travel to England to play. He also played lacrosse for the Mann's Masters Lacrosse Team. He was a Lacrosse coach for the SRCS JV Lacrosse team and he also coached Women's Volleyball.

Jamie was a tutor, was employed with Verizon Wireless and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Networks. He also worked at the Adolescent Group Home on Kawehnoke, he was a Summer Camp Counselor for the NCSTEP Program and he worked for a short time as an Electrician for a Union out of Plattsburgh. Jamie also worked for his father Jeff and his brother Elijah running their construction business, Kanietoton.

Jamie attended Akwesasne Freedom School, Salmon River Central School and Massena Central High School. He attended Springfield College and transferred to the University of Vermont to study Physical Therapy. Recently, Jamie was pursuing an education at Iohahi:io Akwesasne Adult Education Centre for Energy Renewal Systems.

Jamie enjoyed the outdoors, working on home projects, helping family and he also enjoyed his hobby farm and garden. He was an avid environmentalist and he always wanted to do what was right for all Akwesasronon.

Jamie was a kind, generous, open-arms, smart, witty, humorous, hard worker, and a very loving family man, loving husband, father and brother. Jamie loved animals of all sorts and he was an absolute joy to be around.
