BEATRICE V. WHITE

 

AKWESASNE – Mrs. Beatrice V. White, 102, a longtime resident of State Road, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, February 22, 2018 at Tsiionkwanonhso:te – Cornwall Island Long-Term Care Facility.

Beatrice was born February 14, 1916 on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, the daughter of the late George and Ella Moses Brant. On November 26, 1937, she married Charles White, who predeceased her on August 11, 1979.

Beatrice was a homemaker and volunteered as a Tota for the Akwesasne Head Start for many years. She was a member of the Hogansburg Methodist Church and the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting mittens and hats for others, and baking.

She is survived by her sons Ronald and Carol White and Donald White, all of Akwesasne; her grandchildren Robert, Rhonda, and DJ White; her great grandchildren Evan, Chantelle, Karina, Kaeli, Kassidy, Kameron, Taylan, and Kaylea; her great-great grandchildren Ranakarahawi and Kawanaronkwa; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Clara White on August 20, 2017; and her siblings, Ted, Ross, Art, Elizabeth, and Freda.

Friends called Monday and Tuesday at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. The funeral service was held on Wednesday with Lay Minister Mark Garrow officiating.
