Caring Hearts of Akwesasne Host Dinner for Flood Evacuees

Akwesasne, NY – On Saturday, February 24th the Caring Hearts of Akwesasne provided a home-cooked dinner for approximately 58 flood evacuees staying at the Comfort Inn. The meal was much-appreciated by local residents who have been displaced since a Precautionary Evacuation Order was issued on Wednesday, February 21st due to flooding along the St. Regis River.

Charlene Lazore, along with other evacuees, enjoyed the home-baked donated by Kamie Thomas and the Jackson family.

Caring Hearts committee members Dawn LaFrance, Katrina Herne, Sesi Herne, Jonathan Lazore, Floanne Burns and Deanne Bastedo coordinated the pot-luck dinner that saw dishes prepared by Sandra Jackson, Chris Francis, Floanne, Kim Burns, Kamie Thomas, Cecelia Francis, Karen Oakes, Dawn, Diane LaFrance, Tamra Cook, the Jackson Family and the Snipe Sisters, as well as Aimee Benedict furnishing children's toys and games.
