AMPS IDENTIFIES BODY FOUND IN SNYE

 


(Wednesday, February 28, 2018) Akwesasne Mohawk Police have confirmed the identity of the deceased male found as Donald “Do” Johnson, age 31 of Akwesasne.

AMPS is investigating after Johnson’s body was located during an air search on Wednesday morning with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police.

The body was located around 10:30 A.M. in a marsh area near the area of Wade Lafrance Road, in Tsi Snaihne (Snye) Akwesasne, Quebec.

Akwesasne Mohawk Police officers have secured a large area of the scene for investigation purposes.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police will be seeking assistance from the Surete du Quebec Forensic Unit to assist with the investigation. Police will be waiting on the results of a post mortem and toxicology tests to determine the cause of death. Police will continue to hold the scene until the conclusion of the post-mortem and cause of death is determined.

An update will be provided as the investigation continues.
