DO NOT pour greases, fats and oils down the drain

DO NOT attach a garbage disposal to your sink for the purpose of disposing of meat bones, coffee grounds or other foods that are difficult to biodegrade

DO NOT dispose of paints or household chemicals in the drain and use disinfectants in small amounts

DO NOT dispose of any automobile fluids down any drain

DO NOT kill the beneficial bacteria in your septic system by rinsing pesticides, herbicides or any other toxins down the drain

DO NOT dispose of any non-degradable items in your toilet

DO NOT let water run while washing dishes and thawing frozen foods and consider limiting flushes

DO NOT run half loads in the dishwasher or washing machine and stagger wash loads (do not do all loads in one day)

DO NOT use chemicals to “start up” or “clean up” your system, they could harm the septic tank, drain field or ground water

DO NOT attach “clean water” sources such as footing or sump pumps to the septic system

It is recommended to have your septic system pumped and inspected by a licensed hauler every 2-3 years. At that time they can do a visual inspection of your tank to make sure it is properly functioning. Preventing an issue will cause less damage and stress in the long run.
