ALFRED B. LAFFIN

 

HOGANSBURG- Alfred B. Laffin, 51, of 988 Drum Street Road, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Massena Memorial Hospital.

Alfred was born April 3, 1966 in Massena, son of the late Basil O'Donald and Agatha "Hattie" Lazore Laffin. He was a Massena Central School graduate, and attended Paul Smith's College. He married Lynn M. Arquette on September 5, 1998 at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George Belgarde officiating.

He was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was currently a bus monitor for Salmon River Central School and worked at the Bingo Palace and the Cedar View Golf Course. Alfred enjoyed swimming, golfing, baking, fixing things around the house, and was known to enjoy a good nap. A good conversationalist, he loved to visit, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Alfred is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; his four children, Roxanne Whitebean of Kahnawake; William Sunday and Viktoria White of Akwesasne; Jake Laffin of Akwesasne; and Alexandria Laffin of Akwesasne; his grandchildren, Isabelle, Layla, Gabrielle, and Natalie Sunday; Andy and Etta White, Shayde and Destiny Lazore; and Teho and Keena Thunderblanket; his siblings, Yvonne and Clyde Cree of Akwesasne; Patricia and Romica Adiaconitei of Cornwall; Charles Laffin, and Richard Laffin, both of Akwesasne; Andrew Laffin of Canada; Francis Laffin of Virginia; Veronica Bonnetrouge of the Northwest Territories; Donald Laffin of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Moses J. Laffin; and a sister, Esther Canadien.

Friends called at Alfred's home from Saturday until Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
