Do You Know Your Risk for Congestive Heart Failure?

MASSENA, NY – The average adult’s human heart beats between 60 to 100 times per minute as it pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood throughout the body.

Massena Memorial Hospital’s Board Certified Cardiologist and Heart Failure Specialist Aderonke Adeniyi, MD, FACC is presenting a free community seminar entitled, “Understanding Congestive Heart Failure and Knowing Your Risks.” The program will be held at the hospital’s board room, Main Level, at 6 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Dr. Adeniyi will present a program explaining the risk factors for heart disease and how to improve your health.

The heart transports so much more than blood to your muscles and organs. A properly beating heart sends oxygen-enriched blood throughout your entire body to ensure all your organs can function properly. When people develop heart disease, the build-up of plaque in the arteries leaves less space for blood to properly flow and carry oxygen needed to empower our cells.

“Heart disease does not develop overnight. However, improved health comes healthier diets and sustained exercise,” Dr. Adeniyi said.

Dr. Adeniyi joined the medical staff at MMH in 2015, after completing a fellowship in Heart Failure, Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. In 2015, she completed a Cardiology Fellowship at Tulane University, Department of Cardiovascular Disease, New Orleans, LA. Dr. Adeniyi completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC in 2009.
