AMS Cross Country Team Competes in Annual Meet

Several advance to Brockville Race

The Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School Grade 4 - 8 Cross Country Team competed in the annual Bob Nicholls Classic Elementary Cross Country meet last week at Gray's Creek Conservation Area.

Those that finished in the top ten in their division will represent Akwesasne in Brockville at a date still to be determined.

The Cross Country team includes:

Grade 4: Emma Arquette and Kingston Pawls.

Emma placed 8th in the girls division and will be representing AMS in Brockville's Cross Country race.

Grade 5 Girls: Layla Back, Teionkwenhawi Lazore, Watenatiiostha Lazore, Addison Point, Kaysia Swamp.

Grade 5 Boys: Royce Thomas-Robertson, Kayden Sylvester, Dayton Point, Rhylin Oakes-Cook, Alexander Delormier.

Rhylin Oakes-Cook placed 3rd for the boys division and will be representing AMS at the Brockville Cross Country race.


Grade 6 Girls: Kyra Benedict-Sylvester, Ella Benedict-Sylvester, Treyia Francis, Gardyn Robertson, Paris Thomas, Leita-Jayne Leaf.

Grade 6 Boys: Otsirakehte Benedict, Addison Oakes-Cook, Drey Thompson, Tanakehrahne Kirby.

Leita-Jayne Leaf placed 10th in the girls division and Tanakehrahne Kirby placed 8th in the boys division and they will be representing AMS at the Brockville Cross Country race.

Grade 7 Boys: Thoren Edwards-Square and Raweras Square.

Grade 8 Girls: Samaira Thomas, Mustewin Silver, Asia Thompson, Shalia Cook.

Samaira Thomas placed 10th in the girls division and will be representing AMS at the Brockville Cross Country race.

Grade 8 Boys: Anson Herne, Koy Peters, Alex Oakes, Cassius Cook.

Teachers are Melissa Price, Michelle Goss and Colby DeMerchant.
