Welcome to the New School Year 2017-2018!

The Leadership Team of the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) welcomes you to the 2017-2018 school year! We are looking forward to partnering with you to ensure your children can achieve their highest potential.

School Year Objectives

We are very excited to announce that students achieved 80% and above reading levels during the 2016-2017 school year. All students, parents, and staff members are commended for their hard work and dedication in achieving this goal. Together, we will strive to continue to reach the same levels for this school year. For the 2017-2018 school year, AMBE will focus on Kanien'keha literacy, numeracy and improving services for students with special needs.

Parental Support is a Key Input to Your Child's Success

Our children are most successful in school when there is support from both the home and the school. The responsibility for your children's success is a partnership. We ask that you support your child's learning by ensuring that he/she:

1. Attends school daily, arrives on time and ready for the day's learning experience.

2. Completes all homework assignments.

3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading, and to improve literacy skills.

4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are able to demonstrate your interest and that you care about his/her school life.

5. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school.

We encourage you to attend school activities such as Open House sessions, Parent/Teacher Interviews, etc. You are also welcome to attend the monthly Public/In-Camera Sessions of the Board of Education that are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month. The first thirty minutes of the session are for community members to ask questions or make suggestions.
