Indian Time - A Voice from the Eastern Door

The Ionkwa’nikonri:io Thompson Island Cultural Camp is celebrating 20 years! Join the celebration on Wednesday, August 23rd.

The event will begin with a sunrise ceremony, tobacco burning and recital of the Ohenton Karihwatekwen. There will be an opportunity to honor community members who have been instrumental in the camp’s development and who have routinely demonstrated their support of the camp for the past 20 years.

We encourage guests attending the celebration to boat to the island on their own. Please bring a picnic as well as eating utensils; doing so will help make this an environmentally friendly event and reduce our waste.

There will be a boat pickup at 8 am from Adam’s Marina in Tsi Snaihne and Whimpy’s Marina in Summerstown, ON.
