Walking to China
All year the students at Kanatakon school have been logging miles in the gym and last week they got rewarded for their efforts.
The school had a yearlong Walking to China program. They did daily laps in their gym and the miles they logged were equal to the distance to China. On Friday, June 2nd, that gym was transformed into activity stations were various games and activities of the Chinese culture were played.
The day started off with a Dragon parade around the gym. Students then lined up and twirled around little flags while reciting Chinese sayings in unison. They then rotated around the different stations and enjoyed the Catch the Dragons Tail game, Cats Catching Mice game, Hopping Chicken, Badminton and the Shuttlecock game. In between were arts and crafts stations where students got to make fans, Chinese lanterns and play board games.
In the past the school held similar events such as Walking to Mexico and these programs give the students a taste of another culture while getting physically fit.
