DULCIE M. BRADLEY "Kawennahente"

 

AKWESASNE – Mrs. Dulcie M. Bradley, "Kawennahente," 89, of 646 State Route 37, peacefully passed away at her home with her family by her side on Monday afternoon, April 17, 2017.

Dulcie was born at the family home in Akwesasne, the daughter of the late Nelson and Adeline (White) White and attended schools in Akwesasne. On December 17, 1951, she married Philip "Pat" Bradley at the Painesville Methodist Church in Painesville, Ohio. Pat predeceased her on March 2, 2012.

At the age of 14 Dulcie, left home and went to work in Buffalo where she worked making artillery for the government during World War II. She later went to work for Theresa's Anchor Bar and also worked for a time as an elevator operator at the Hotel Buffalo. She and her family moved back to Akwesasne where she assisted her husband as the secretary of the Ironworkers Local #440 collecting dues and sending men on jobs for many years. She and her late husband enjoyed snowmobiling and were members of the Mohawk Pathfinders. She was a lifetime member of the Hogansburg Methodist Church, a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens and the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. Dulcie was also a dedicated homemaker, mother, and grandmother who cherished the memories and time she spent visiting and watching sports with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She passed on her love of life and caring for family and others on to her children and grandchildren.

Dulcie is survived by her children, Binky and John Herne; Barry Bradley and his companion, Jennifer Francis; Bonnie Bradley; Bethe Lazore and her companion, Ernie Thompson; all of Akwesasne; and Brett and Meg Bradley of Fort Covington; her beloved grandchildren, Jay, Joel, Jenna, Brandon Jr., Kyle, Hunter, Branka, Tammy, Cherrie, Roger Jr., Caleb, Bradley, Errolyn, and Beaux; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Dulcie was predeceased by 2 sons, Brandon R. Bradley on January 1, 1990; Philip Patrick Bradley, Jr. on August 25, 1968; her siblings, Florence Bonaparte on December 25, 1985, Shirley Aldrich on April 3, 2003, Jessie Diebow on February 20, 2008, Charles White on August 11, 1979, Wilbert E. White on February 1, 1981, Reginald "Reggie" White on August 14, 2012, and Morris White on April 22, 2014.

Friends may call at her home beginning 4:00 PM Thursday until 10:00 AM Saturday. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 AM at the Hogansburg Methodist Church with Lay Pastor Mark Garrow officiating. Burial will follow in Hogansburg Methodist Cemetery.
