Lifetime Legacy Awarded To Joanne Shenandoah

On January 21, 2017, Joanne Shenandoah received the Lifetime Legacy Award. Shenandoah, a Grammy Award Winning artist, lecturer, educator, and ambassador of peace has spent her life advocating for the rights of Native Americans through song, lyrics and performances.

The American Indian Society of Washington, DC presents its most prestigious award to a Native American whose life's work has led to the improvement and empowerment of Native Americans through social, political, legal, environmental or educational initiatives.
