Gymnast Ashton Locklear named to U.S. Olympics replacement team

18-year-old Ashton Locklear of the Lumbee Tribe was named an alternate on the 2016 Women's Olympic Gymnastics Team Sunday night.

Locklear is one of America's leading gymnasts. She won national and international titles in uneven bars in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and was a member of the gold-medal winning U.S. team at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China.

She impressed the selection committee with her performances on the uneven bars both Friday and Sunday night. Despite not being named as one of the top five competitors, Locklear earned one of the three alternate spots.
