Land Disputes Rally

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Land Disputes Rally

On October 7, 2013 at 9 am a rally is being planned on Kawenoke concerning the 200 plus land disputes on the territory.

We do not need to have these disputes handed down to future generations. We need to resolve them so that we may peacefully co-exist with our neighbours and sometimes with our families.

At a recent general meeting the membership was told that it was up to Canada to resolve these issues. It is therefore up to us to rally everyone who has a land dispute to come and join us in making the next step.

Not everyone can afford the lawyers and the private investigators to delve into some of these land disputes.

Contact has been made to the office of Minister Valcourt. He is the minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development. He is aware of the proposed rally.

Local and national media have also been contacted.

Join us to support each other as we become one to resolve these land disputes. We need to leave our children and grandchildren with clear abstracts to their inheritances.

If our leadership does not want to resolve these issues, then we can do something about the disputes!

Cordially,

Beverly Pyke
