Perimeter Fencing Installed at Tribal Police Department

Akwesasne - The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department has received a welcomed addition to the station with the installation of an 8’ chain link fence.  The installation has been completed by St. Lawrence Fence Company and took approximately one week to set up.

The scope of work consisted of installing over 700 feet of commercial chain link fencing.  With the new fencing, came an electric gate opener, infrared safety photo-eye switches and remote gate openers.

According to SRMT Police Chief Andy Thomas, the fence is deemed as multi-purpose; it helps secure the facility, as not all areas of the building are open to the public. It also gives the Police Department the ability to secure vehicles for Impound, especially for evidentiary purposes. Impounded vehicles will not, however, be stored on the premises. Once a vehicle has been processed and it requires long-term storage, the Tribal Police Department will then utilize a local impound vendor.

In conclusion Mr. Thomas stated, “I am pleased with the results of the fence project. Hopefully, we can soon start with the next project which includes the building of an attached garage at the police station.”
