Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Holds Annual Car Show
It’s summertime and one thing you can always expect to see are beautiful classic cars lined up beside the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Resort. On Saturday, July 27, AMC held its second annual Classic Car Show and had around 50 participants from New York, Vermont and Canada. The event was free for all to see, but participants had a $10 entry fee giving them a shot at either $100 or a $500 Best in Show prize. Entry was free if participants registered early.
The day began at 11am with registrations, and the show began at noon with a DJ providing the entertainment for the day. Food and craft vendors were on hand and there were T-shirts for sale too. Across 9 categories entrants competed for first place. Categories were: Vintage, Retro, Muscle GM, Muscle FORD, Muscle MOPAR, Special Interest, New - 1990 Present, Truck Pre-1970’s, and Truck Post-1970’s.
Judging began around 1pm, with community members doing the judging. Once the votes were in, winners were announced and they collected their prizes. Best in show belonged to a 1970 Oldsmobile and its owner, Terry Gosselin from Essex Junction, Vermont. All the cars paraded around Akwesasne after the show, led by Noah Ransom.
