Announcing Exciting New Hotel Jobs - Career Fair
January 10, 2013 - Akwesasne Mohawk Casino – Spring is almost upon us, and the hotel grand opening is right around the corner! The brand new 150-room hotel not only makes the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino a resort destination, it also brings dozens of new and exciting careers.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Career Fair on Friday, February 8th, 2013 from 11am-6pm at the Human Resources building located in the Speedway Plaza.
As always, the goal of the Gaming Operation’s Education/Recruitment Department is to promote Native employment within the Mohawk Gaming Enterprises. All community members are strongly encouraged to come out to the Career Fair and apply for our exciting new careers in the hotel industry. The Career Fair will be hiring for the following positions:
Housekeepers
Front Desk Clerk
Spa Manager
Assistant Housekeepers
Reservation Agents
Spa Receptionist
Housekeeping Inspectors
Night Audit
Certified Massage Therapist
Housemen
Bellman
Certified Esthetician
Laundry Attendants
During the Career Fair, community members will have the opportunity to fill out an application for any of the positions above and interviews will be held on the spot. Although not necessary, it is recommended that you bring an updated resume and dress appropriately to make a great first impression.
These exciting new careers qualify for Work Permit licensing through the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission. A Work Permit license is administered directly by the Tribal Gaming Commission and can usually be accomplished in less than one week, while a Class III license is a much more in-depth process, approved by New York State and typically takes more processing time. Both licenses will require successful completion of drug testing.
There is a common misconception that you cannot work at the Casino or Palace if you have a criminal record. Tribal Gaming states that this is simply untrue. Just because you have an arrest record, it should not deter you from applying. Not all arrests or convictions will prevent you from working in the Tribe’s gaming facilities. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission will look at each applicant’s criminal record, on a case-by-case basis, before making any determination as there are many mitigating factors that allow a person to receive a Class III Gaming License or Work Permit.
The Casino is a great place to work with excellent benefits, competitive salaries, and opportunity for advancement. Come work in a team environment with dynamic people in exciting venues.
