The pep band and cheerleaders filled the full bleachers with spirit last Saturday night as Massena hosted its long standing rival in the first NAC home game of the season. However, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 12-0 half-time lead en route to a convincing 38-13 win over the Red Raiders.

Group of Massena players prepare for a kick return in Friday nights game against OFA.

The tables were turned this week. Massena had won its first game of the season against Tupper Lake while OFA had lost against Gouverneur.

The Blue Devils’ quarterback, Nate Angel, led with three touchdowns, five for six passing for 100 yards and 102 yards rushing. Zach Sharpe scored on a run of 35 yards while Alex Farrell caught a pass from Angel and scooted 59 yards to the end for a touchdown. Jordan McCormick returned a Massena kickoff 64 yards for a touchdown.

The Red Raiders got on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter when Jon-Paul Reagan scored two touchdowns with runs of 55 and 69 yards.

With 20 seconds left in regulation time the game had to be called early due to a power failure.

The Red Raiders will be back in action on Friday September 14, at 7:30 p.m. as they host the St. Lawrence Larries.
