Taco Sale at Longhouse to Benefit Kanatsiohareke
On Friday, a taco sale benefiting the Kanatsiohareke Community was held at the longhouse. Henes Porter described Kanatsiohareke as a “non-profit group teaching Mohawk language and culture.” Selling out by 1 PM, Henes wasn’t sure how much they were able to raise for the community, but the fundraiser was a success.
Katsitsahawi Perkins wanted to mention that their 19th annual festival was next weekend, taking place June 30th and July 1st. This benefit was essentially going to support the festival, because as Porter noted, “It takes a lot of money to organize a get together over the weekend.”
Porter wanted to extend a big niawenko:wa to Katsitsakwas Lazore, and Katsitsahawi Perkins and said, “they are always putting lots of effort in and if something needs to be done they’re always there to do it with no questions asked.
