GET OUT THE VOTE!

There is a lot of apathy in Akwesasne, as evidenced by the low turnout for the district meeting on Kawehnoke last night.

Members complain about leadership but they do not show up in public to call the leadership to task. If the leadership doesn’t change and you haven’t voiced your concerns, then you are guilty too.

Don’t sit at home and let a few decide the future of Akwesasne, get pro-active and speak out if you are unhappy with the way things are handled.

There were many people at the last general meeting, but a petition was being presented to council and it was a crisis situation. To avoid these situations, get out and voice your concerns, show your interest in your community by voting in the election on Saturday.

The membership has an obligation to get the best leadership possible, so get out and vote!

If you believe that change is needed, vote for the leaders that will move Akwesasne in the right direction.

We need jobs that are good paying and not just jobs that will get you enough time to get employment insurance when they are done.

Times have changed, and there is a definite need to educate our members and to get them good paying jobs. They need to build their self-esteem to get their confidence back and not be dependent on social assistance or by moving commodities to and fro.

Long term plans need to be developed to get our members back in the work force, or into it in some cases.

DON’T SIT HOME AND COMPLAIN. GET YOURSELF, FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OUT TO VOTE ON JUNE 23, 2012!
