Red Ribbon Week Plant the Promise

The Pre-K Classes from Salmon River Elementary School participated in Plant the Promise sponsored by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Alcoholism//Chemical Dependency Prevention Program as part of Red Ribbon Week.  The students planted tulip bulbs in October as a promise to lead healthy drug free lives.  Red Ribbon Week is a national Drug Prevention Week celebrated in memory of Enrique “Kiki” Camerena who was tortured and killed by drug traffickers.  The tulips bloom in April as a reminder of our promise to lead healthy, drug free and violence free lives. The students enjoyed watching the flowers as they grew and were amazed at how pretty they were.
