UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE – Massena Village police ticketed Carrie A. Delormier, 25, of Rooseveltown for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 11 on state Route 37.

IMPAIRED CARE AND CONTROL OF MOTOR VEHICLE – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded on Jan. 14, 2012 to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Recreation Road, Cornwall Island. Upon police arrival, police observed a grey Ford pick-up truck in the ditch running with a male occupant slouched over the steering wheel sleeping. Further investigation revealed that the subject was believed to be intoxicated. Trevin James Curtis Sunday of 412 Island Road was arrested and charged for Impaired Care and Control of a motor vehicle section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada and Drive Over 80 mg of alcohol section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

UNLICENSED OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded on Jan. 14, 2012 to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on River Road, Tsi Snaihne, Quebec which had struck a Hydro pole causing the wires to hang low creating a safety hazard. Police investigation revealed that the driver Dylan Adams of 59 Mary Adams Road, Akwesasne Quebec was traveling on River Road and lost control of the vehicle due to road conditions, hitting the Hydro pole. Mr. Adams was charged with Drive motor vehicle no drivers license, Drive motor vehicle improper tires.

ATTEMPTED BREAK & ENTER – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded on Jan. 13, 2012 to a report of an Intrusion Alarm at Traditional Trading Building, 605 Island Road East, Kawehnoke Ontario. Upon police arrival an external inspection of the facility revealed that culprits attempted to gain entry to the facility in several locations then prying on the back door causing extensive damage to the door casing. The culprits appeared to have arrived and departed the location on snow sleds.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police report that on Jan. 10, 2012 police observed a male subject walking on Akwesasne Street in Kana:takon and police believed that he had warrants outstanding from Valleyfield Provincial Court dating back to Feb. 14, 2011 and London Police Service. The warrants were confirmed and police arrested Sahonweshe Elijah of 3 Kanawakho Road, Akwesasne N.Y. to appear in Valleyfield Court.

BREAK & ENTER – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police received a report on Jan. 8, 2012 of a Break & Enter to a residence on Hemlock Street in Tsi Snaihne, Quebec. The owner of the residence returned home Sunday afternoon and discovered items missing from the residence and a kitchen window broken where culprits made entry. Upon further inspection some items missing from the residence are 32” Samsung TV, approximately $1,200.00 in various change Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, Loonies, Toonies, Wall painting 4’x2’ of the Twin Towers, 8’x10’ Area Rug, 2’x6’ Runner Carpet both items are brown with red, black, blue, yellow and green squares, food from the kitchen cupboards, and some DVDs.

ROADSIDE CHECK POINTS – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service reports that over the Holiday Season, police set up several random roadside check points and report that no arrests were made for impaired driving. Akwesasne Mohawk Police did lay two charges for Drive motor vehicle no drivers license, one charge of fail to stop for police, one charge suspended driver, one charge for failing to wear seatbelt assembly and executed one arrest warrant.

POSSESSION OF WEAPON – New York State Police in Massena went to the Port of Entry to arrest 30-year-old Curtis Mitchell on a felony count of weapon possession, after Customs found him with the knuckle-knife, allegedly in a secondary inspection Saturday night. Mitchell has a previous conviction that precludes him from possessing the weapon. Mitchell was arraigned and jailed on 10-thousand-dollars cash bail or 20-thousand-dollars bail bond.

DWI – Matthew Buckshot of Cornwall Island, Ontario; with several previous arrests on felony and misdemeanor counts in Massena related to domestic violence in past years, was picked up early Sunday after a pullover on Center Street Extension. He was charged with DWI and four other counts.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS – On Friday Jan. 13, 2012 the Mohawk Tribal Police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Solomon Road and Frogtown Road. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the passenger, Frank Torres, was wanted in Texas on an active arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Torres has been a fugitive from justice since March, 2011. Torres was arraigned in Ft. Covington Town Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail to await extradition back to Texas.
