SENTENCING - Phillip Tarbell, age 69, of Hogansburg, New York, was sentenced Tuesday Jan. 10 to 12-months and one-day imprisonment, two years of supervised release, a $10,000 fine and a special assessment of $100, by United States Senior District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy in Albany, New York. Phillip Tarbell was initially arrested on November 12, 2010, at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint located on New York State Route 9, in Essex County, New York. Tarbell was in possession of two hockey bags that contained 89.5 pounds of marijuana at the time of his arrest. On February 7, 2011, Tarbell pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 841(a)(1). On November 3, 2011, while on federal supervision pending sentencing, DEA agents in southern New York arrested Tarbell for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute MDMA (ecstacy), a controlled substance, to an undercover agent. That arrest resulted in additional drug trafficking charges which remain pending in the Eastern District of New York.

UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - Massena Village police ticketed Patricia M. Boots, 44, of state Route 37, Akwesasne, for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 on East Orvis Street.

BENCH WARRANT - Massena Village police picked up Lindsay T. Gray, 32, of Hogansburg Thursday, Jan. 5 afternoon on a bench warrant issued by the St. Lawrence County Court. She was turned over to sheriff’s deputies for transport to a county court appearance. Police served the warrant at the St. Lawrence County Probation Department office on Harrowgate Commons.

UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - Massena Village police ticketed Judy A. Barnes, 48, of Helena Road, Akwesasne for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle at 10:35 a.m. Saturday Jan. 7 following a traffic stop on East Orvis Street. Motorists are reminded the color of the inspection stickers changes each year on Jan. 1.

UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - Massena Village police ticketed Joseph M. Mitchell, 31, of Hogansburg for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle 3:49 p.m. Friday Jan. 6 following a traffic stop on State Route 37.

SPEEDING - Massena Village police ticketed Ian T. Oakes, 31, of Hogansburg for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 3:01 p.m. Saturday Jan. 7 on East Hatfield Street.
