Aboriginal Summer Solstice Arts Festival
The Hotinonhson:ni cultural youth group Karlee Thompson, Chanel Thompson, Kawisenhawi Sharrow, Tianna Back, Fawn Jacobs, Gavin Jacobs, Kyla thompson, Honni David and Morgan White-Cree were given an opportunity of a life time on June 17-19th when they participated in the 2011' Summer Solctice aboriginal arts festival in honour of National aboriginal day. This event
provided families an unique opportunity to experience and celbrate the diversity of aborigianl cultures in and around the Ottawa region. They had on going lively and interactive programming that keep you entertained throuout the day including extensive family activities pony rides, petty zoo, bouncing castles, Skay woman, Spirit & Goose on stilts as they walked tall around the fair gounds, and aboriginal artisans village, featuring interactive arts workshops, demostrations and vendors. Also entertaining us was the popular main stage with headliners like Shane Yellowbird, Sky Hovorka, Kaiva and thirty eight participants in the Boriginal Canada " We've Got Talent " contest, in this contest Akwesasne had many contestants, singer Kahnienkwirehtha Chanel Thompson, singer Summer Rain Herne, the Hoop Dancers Tianna Back, Taylene Hall, Kyla Thompson & Morgan White-Cree, singer Kawisenhawi Sharrow and Eagle waltz performer Honni David and Morgan David.
