Students hold bake sale to assist Japan earthquake victims

Teacher Mrs. Jackson and student Ella Bero presented a $325 check to the Canadian Red Cross to assist Japan.

Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School 3rd grader Ella Bero had the idea of helping out the people of Japan as they recover from the devastating earthquake and tsunami last month. She suggested to her teacher Mrs. Jackson that they hold a bake sale or Freezie sale to raise money. Students in her class liked the idea also and on Friday, April 1 a bake sale was held at the school. Ella had help from her parents, Andrew and Angela, making many of the baked goods and other students and staff brought items as well.

On April 6, a representative from Cornwall’s branch of the Canadian Red Cross visited AMS to accept a check in the amount of $325.35 from Ella and her classmates. The CRC has a special account dedicated to the Japan earthquake victims.
