Salmon River welcomes new school board members

 


Salmon River Central School recently announced two vacant seats on its school board open for election. The school board seat is a 5-year position responsible for orchestrating the direction of the school and assisting in the success of its students. Competing for a seat were three candidates: Greg Cunningham, Shannon Nye and Clarissa Terrance-Chatland. Elections were held on May 18 at the Salmon River auditorium from noon until 8pm. Voters had to be at least 18 years of age and reside within the school district. They did not have to have a child enrolled in the district to be eligible to vote. Official election results were Greg Cunningham 302, Clarissa Terrance-Chatland 246, Shannon Nye 165 and 22 write-ins. The top 2 candidates, Cunningham and Terrance-Chatland, will be sworn into their positions during the first re-organizational meeting of the year expected to take place in June.
