More arrests made in Square-Sunday drug ring

Federal agents released the names of three more individuals accused of being part of an alleged drug ring they closed in on earlier this month.

Slobodan Pavicevic, 29, Mersim Kolenovic, 29, and Kim Ki Joo, 52, all residents of Queens, NY face charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and money laundering.

All three were arrested last week.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency said the individuals are part of an “ongoing” criminal drug ring that they’ve begun to dismantle. Their efforts included the Feb. 10, 2009 raid of an Akwesasne home owned by Randy Square, 44. Square and his alleged co-conspirator David “Snookty” Sunday, 37 were both arrested more than two weeks ago and charged with federal drug conspiracy offenses.

Five others, Walter Baus, 39 of Middle Village, NY, Denise Cook, 26 of Fort Covington, NY, Guy Gantz, 35 of Israel, Andrew Kagan, 32 of Ridgefield, NJ and Carmelo Ruiz, 38 of Medford, NY were arrested shortly after.

All together the group is said to be responsible for the transfer of more than a ton of marijuana through Akwesasne from Canada, into the New York cities of Syracuse, Rochester and New York.

Authorities have not said if more arrests are pending.
