Louis Gray Jr.
Mr. Louis “Buttercup” Gray, Jr., age 40, of 516 Cook Road, Hogansburg, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 16, 2008 in the emergency room at Massena Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 14, 1968 in Flushing, New York, the son of Louis Sr. and Ann Kroepfl Gray. He graduated from Salmon River Central School in 1986. He married Rhonda M. Laughing on July 24, 1993, the marriage ended in separation.
Buttercup worked as a carpenter at the St. Regis Mohawk Housing Authority and also as a heavy equipment operator on various jobs. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was a member of the Bear Clan and was given the name Saho:ion, which means “He was given”. He was a foster parent. Louie loved music, playing the guitar and karaoke. He loved to make people laugh. He also enjoyed bowling, darts and drawing.
He is survived by his parents, Louis and Ann; his sister, Tracy Gray and his niece and godchild, Shelby, of Hogansburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Margo Gray and his nephew, Brian, Jr., of Massena; many aunts, uncles, and cousins and by his former wife, Rhonda of Hogansburg.
Friends may call at the Cook Farm, Cook Road, Hogansburg, beginning Wednesday 5:00 PM until the time of the service. A traditional funeral service will be held Friday 11:00 at the Cook Farm with Longhouse Speaker Richard Mitchell, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in the Longhouse Cemetery, Cornwall Island.
