Tree of Peace Society Gathering

@ Sit & Bull Camp, McGee Road, Akwesasne.
Workshops will run from 9 am to noon each day. Workshops are $25.00 per day for local residents of Akwesasne.=
July 30th - Jake Swamp of Akwesasne
-Will give an update on what is planned for the Tree of Peace Learning Center.
-Discuss peacemaking principles and the importance of continuing peace work in our communities.
- Will also give a report on the Gathering of World Religions.
July 31st - Dr. Dan Longboat, from 6 Nations
-Will discuss Haudenosaunee health issues and research findings on traditional diets.
-Also cover seasonal diet plans of the Haudenosaunee.
Aug. 1st - Rick Hill Sr. from 6 Nations
-Will discuss the Condolence Protocol of the Haudenosaunee
-Will also present on the grieving issues in Haudenosaunee societies and application of the Condolence protocol.
Aug. 2nd - Dale Bellisfield, Nancy Slowick from New Jersey and Suzanne Brant of Tyendinaga
-Plants of the field, forest and wetland. Identification of plants, trees and medicines in the area. Update on the herbarium project.
-Discussion on natural health through herbal remedies.
-Medicines: Collecting, storage, and preparation.
Aug. 3rd - Bob Stevenson of Akwesasne
-Life Skills on the Land Teachings: Outdoor education, survival skills and living in the best of both worlds.
-Native awareness through storytelling and jokes.
