  • Thank you

    May 6, 2010

Thank you In March 2009, I was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in my nose and tonsils. This was the third time since 1970 that I was diagnosed with a form of cancer. I believe that chemo and radiation is not always the answer and so when faced with the decision that the medical profession gives, I made the one that felt right for me, I didn’t want to get chemo and radiation. After much research, I found Dr. Linchetz in Long Island. As you all know, I chose a treatment that was not conventional (Insulin Potentiation Therapy), and insurance c...

  • History Cannot Be Denied

    Doug George Kanentiio|May 6, 2010

There are dates in every person’s life by which they mark the passage of time and events. Some are wonderful: the birth of a child, a birthday, graduation and marriage. Others are far less pleasant: the death of a parent, an accident or a natural disaster. There are also dates which have communal importance. It may be a spiritual gathering, a political rally or an athletic contest while others are controversial and may be so traumatic as to cause us discomfort, even anguish. May 1 across the world is “Worker’s Day” in which the labor of thos...

  • Dear Editor

    May 6, 2010

National Grid Compact… feels more like a National travesty Now that the elections are in full swing and enrolled candidates are stepping forward I think that this summer’s elections are pivotal for the survival of our collective sovereignty and the security of the next seven generations. I feel that we need to change the present Council’s ‘way of thinking’ and I think that the National Grid compact is the shinning example of the change that I envision. On, March 23, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Massena, our anointed one trustee James Ran...

  • Dear Editor

    May 6, 2010

Dear Editor, She:kon. Thank you for the opportunity to state my opinion. In considering the upcoming tribal election season, one always wonders about voter turnout. Does good weather increase or decrease voter numbers? For instance, does a sunny day preoccupy people who would otherwise vote, or does bad weather keep people inside the house, also causing a vote to be missed. What is a valid excuse for missing the chance to influence who will be deciding the agenda of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe for the next three years? Some things might be taken...

  • Letter to the Editor:

    May 6, 2010

Letter to the Editor, I would like to say that I support Ray Cook’s letter about the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino’s Dancing Bears. I attended the last month’s monthly meeting and brought up the subject of the Dancing Bears. I made a follow up call and was told that bears would be put back where the employees sitting area is located. Everyone also knows the artist Brad Bonaparte. We all know how much thought and work he must have put into designing and making of the bears. I don’t want the bear’s put out back where no one would be able to see them da...
