Indian Time - A Voice from the Eastern Door

AKWESASNE – Mrs. Cecelia "Cece" Gadway, 83, affectionately known as Mrs. Mayor of State Road, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her home.

She is survived by her sister, Bessie Mitchell of Tsi Snaihne; her chosen son, Darryl Ransom of Akwesasne; her chosen daughters, Beverly Lazore of Tsi Snaihne and Janet Tatro of Akwesasne; her grandson, Dalyn Ransom; and many additional nieces and nephews.

Cece was predeceased by her husbands, Paul Mitchell and Reginald Gadway; her parents, George and Elizabeth Ransom; an infant son at birth, Harvey Gadway; her sisters, Mary Casey and Elizabeth "Betty" Swamp; and her brothers, James and Arthur Ransom.

Friends called on Tuesday at the Akwesasne Homemakers, where funeral services were held with Rev. Jerome Pastores officiating. Cremation will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance Service.
