Part Time Business Manager for Indian Time Newspaper


Will transition to a full time position

Responsible to: Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs

Job Duties:

• Ensure that staff understands and follows Nation approved policies.

• Work with all departments and personnel to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

• Ensure that Indian Time staff operate and maintain a team work environment.

• Conduct staff meetings.

• Interview and hire staff.

• Do orientation with new employees, supervise and do evaluations.

• Manage, assess and supervise the production of Indian Time newspaper.

• Maintain all personnel forms including: employee resumes and applications, weekly time sheets, task assignments and performance evaluation forms.

• Provide direction and guidance as needed.

• Prepare annual operational budget.

• Prepare and submit reports to the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs.

• Procure all supplies and equipment required by staff in performance of their job.

• Willingness to investigate the procurement of additional funding sources and do follow up reports.


• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

• Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle criticism from community and employee grievances.

• Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks.

• 2 to 5 years management experience.

• 2 to 5 years media/communications experience.

• Excellent knowledge of the community of Akwesasne.
