Lest We Forget
November 9th, 2017
During this time of year, we have an opportunity to reflect about those who fought for our freedom. At Tsi Snaihne School, we are fortunate to have students with family members who are former military personnel. To honour their courage and their sacrifices, we held a Veteran's Day breakfast. This year, we were fortunate to have our largest turn out to date! The veterans who attended were served a delicious breakfast, which included eggs, sausage, fruit and coffee. Nia:wen to Anita Mitchell and Kayla Cook for the fantastic breakfast. The cafeteria and school was beautifully decorated by our Art Teacher Ms. Bruinsma.
During the breakfast, students from all of our classes presented gifts such as cards, personalized poppies and wreaths. Some of our classes were proud to recite poems, sing songs and most importantly, thank each veteran individually. Our honoured guests represented all branches of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marine Corps.
The veterans who attended were as follows: Peter A. Back, Valerie Smoke Ramirez, Jeffery Johnson, Dwight P. Bero, Clinton Jacobs, Michael R. Cook, Charlie Jacobs, Darryl Diabo, Pernell Peters, Richard Phillips, Alan White, Joseph Phillips, Lloyd Pitts, Andrew Phillips, Stephen Ingle, Denis Phillips, Michael T. Francis, Stanley Cook and Leslie Herne.
Nia:wenko:wa from the Veteran's Day Committee (Debbie Ransom-Gauthier, Chase LaMoy, Heather Cook and Lana King).
