"Someday I wanna drive this big truck."

That was the theme of the Touch-A-Truck event held last weekend at Generations Park as the children were invited to climb aboard various construction and rescue vehicles.

The Holiday Helpers sponsored the event in the hopes of raising money for their campaign and the Fire Department, United States Border Patrol Services, St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Ambulance and Lazore's Construction all chipped in to help.

The Hogansburg Akwesasne Fire Department brought their ladder truck and the children all had fun in the cab playing firemen with the headsets. The Border Patrol had one of their cruisers and the kids had a blast with the loud speaker. The Ambulance Paramedic Unit from MCA provided the children some siren blasting time. The Tribal Police had one of their trucks on hand and Officer PJ Burns provided the background music.

Kids under 15 were admitted free and over 16 had to pay a cover charge. Proceeds went to the Holiday Helpers group.
