Saint Regis Braves Going 6 - 0

 

Dalston Day goes airborne in an attempt to prevent a long pass on June 18 against the Indians.

The St. Regis Braves have extended their thus far perfect 2016 record to 6-0 after two wins over Caughnawaga and a victory against Vermont.

On Sunday, June 19 road bout with the Vermont Voyageurs ended with a 9-3 final tally. The Braves jumped head 5-2 after the first period and punched in four goals in the middle frame while holding their opponents to one. The closing stanza was a stalemate.

Ky Tarbell and Seth Oakes led the offense with two goals and two assists each. Dwight Bero tallied four assists. John Jacobs scored once and assisted two plays. Jarrett Jacobs has two assists. Jimmy Burns, Derek Hopps, Zach Hopps and Jacoby Thompson each netted singletons. Justin Oakes had a solo helper. Torrey Bigtree stood tall between the pipes with 31 saves.

For Vermont, Giuseppe Donian scored twice and Kyle Baker once. They each also recorded single assists. Matt McIver had two helpers and Dan Cone one. Nicholas Meigs manned the net for 45 saves.

The previous evening on their home Massena Arena turf, St. Regis triumphed 12-4 over the Caughnawaga Indians.

Indian Hank Goodleaf opened scoring at 5:39 on a play set up by Garrett Cree and Evan Cree. The Braves' Seth Oakes answered with two goals, at 6:01 assisted by Justin Oakes and Dalston Day and 7:05 unassisted. The game was tied at the end of the period 2-2 after a goal at 15:12 from Arthur McComber unassisted.

The Braves took over in the middle frame and never looked back. While holding their opponents to no goals, they added six to the board from Derek Hopps, Ky Tarbell, Ross Cree, Zach Hopps, Dalston Day and again from Ky Tarbell. Goodleaf fired in two more for the Indians in the closing stanza. The Braves managed four goals from Kota Square, Seth Oakes, Jacoby Thompson and Lee Thomas.

Seth Oakes led the offense with three goals and an assist. Jarrett Jacobs and Dwight Bero each assisted three plays. Ky Tarbell had two goals, while Justin Oakes recorded two helpers. Dalston Day scored once and assisted once. Solo goals came from the sticks of Jacoby Thompson, Derek Hopps, Kota Square, Zach Hopps and Ross Cree. Tevin Terrance, Trey Square and Matt Thompson logged single assists.

For the Indians, Goodleaf scored three times and McComber once. Single helpers came from Garrett Cree, Evan Cree and Adam Lewis.

On June 12 at Kahnawake Sports Complex, St. Regis bested Caughnawaga 10-6.

The game opened with four Braves goals in the opening frame while holding their opponents scoreless. The Indians came back in the middle period, netting four goals to the Braves' one. St, Regis regained their footing in the closing stanza, punching in five goals while holding Caughnawaga to two.

Justin Oakes paced St. Regis with two goals and two assists while his squadmate Daniel Lazore had one goal and three helpers. Randall Seymour scored twice. Tyson Square, Matt Thompson, Zach Hopps and Jimmy Burns each scored once and assisted single plays. Dwight Bero scored one goal and Jacoby Thompson logged one assist. Torrey Bigtree (21 saves) and Isaac Sharrow (18 saves) split goaltender detail.

Robert York led the Caughnawaga scoresheet with one goal and three helpers. Curry Rice scored twice and assisted one play. Karontase Jacobs scored one goal and had one assist. Kanatase Marquis and Ben Doxtador each assisted two plays. Lee Thomas and Zack Zachary each scored once. Cody Skye and Aennase Horne each had one assist. Stacy Okwe turned aside 48 shots.
